Le Bol, La Mallette & La Danseuse is a process book that chronicles the three projects I realized in my Design Studio 1 course during my third semester at Parsons (first semester of Sophomore year). My teacher designed the class - which was focused on Interior Design - to begin at a small scale - the scale of the object - and build from there, instead of starting directly with building a space. By beginning to work with just objects first, we gained a better understanding of how to build a space: building a space for an object rather than making an object fit for a space. Objects - and people - are what inhabit spaces and make them come alive; it thus seems logical to place emphasis on them rather than pretend that spaces are just walls and a roof. A space is so much more than that. This course also taught me to work at multiple different scales and use different media to represent our ideas. The first project focused on objects, the second on the container - ie the space that contains the objects - while the third project focused on the bigger space.
